ppmBatch 1.2.0 M1-Compatibility & New Watch Folder System
We’ve been working hard this year to upgrade all of our products to be compatible with Apple’s newest computers equipped with ARM-based processors (aka Apple Silicon). The latest product to be updated is ppmBatch which also includes a new Watch Folder system for both Mac and Windows.
With this update, ppmBatch adds to the ranks of zplane products that are compatible with Apple’s newest computers sporting the cutting-edge M1, M1 Pro, and M1 Max processors, a list which already includes deCoda, PEEL, Elastique Pitch V2, reTune, TONIC, FENNEK, and PPMulator.
In addition to updating ppmBatch to run natively on Apple Silicon, we’ve also added a new feature which is usable by all users, regardless of operating system or CPU architecture: Watch Folders.
The idea behind Watch Folders is to speed up the process of analyzing large batches of audio files, especially if those files are always tested or conformed to the same loudness profile. This new feature allows you to set a folder of your choice as an “input” folder and a second folder as an “output”. You can then minimize ppmBatch and simply drag audio files into the “input” folder whenever you need them scanned and/or normalized. As soon as ppmBatch sees new audio files in the “input” folder, it will immediately begin processing them with the current settings. The results of the processing are then placed in the “output” folder—this is either just the files that have been scanned or the newly-normalized files; analysis reports also appear here so you can review any changes that might have been made to the audio file or simply review the results of the scan.
ppmBatch 1.2.0 is a free update for all current owners which can be downloaded today by logging in to your zplane User Account: https://userarea.zplane.de/login/#
